The USPTO reports that the number of patents listing at least one woman inventor has increased from only 7% in the 1980s to 21% in 2016. The legal profession, too, has made great strides in including women, with increasing representation in partner ranks within law firms.

Still, women do not yet have equal representation in these challenging but rewarding fields.
