IAM 1000 Listing of Three Attorneys

Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine released the 2026 edition of its annual guide to the world’s top patent practitioners, recommending the Grüneberg Global IP firm as a whole, along with three attorneys individually, for patent prosecution: Dr. Kirsten Grüneberg, Dr. Richard Chinn, and David Woodward.

In the highly competitive Washington, DC area, Grüneberg Global IP, PLLC received a place in the IAM Patent 1000 DC-area listings. Fewer than 40 other firms made the patent prosecution list, which also includes several multicity and multinational AmLaw 100 firms.

Noting the firm’s work for numerous large global companies, IAM cites rave reviews, highlighting the following:

“At the helm, Dr Kirsten Grüneberg is a highly regarded strategist with deep expertise across chemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She is particularly noted for advising global clients on portfolio development and product clearance, as well as handling complex post-grant matters. She frequently works on high-value pharmaceutical portfolios and post-grant proceedings, where her ability to align legal and commercial objectives has proven instrumental in safeguarding significant business interests. Working alongside her, Dr Richard Chinn brings decades of experience in chemical patent prosecution and counselling. His practice spans a wide range of technologies, from polymers and semiconductors to pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, and he is especially valued for his ability to translate complex scientific concepts into robust patent protection. He offers a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach that reflects a deep understanding of both legal and technical considerations. Completing the core team, David Woodward adds a strong blend of prosecution and contentious insight, drawing on his background as a former USPTO examiner and his experience in Hatch-Waxman litigation. His work frequently involves coordinating international portfolios and advising clients on freedom-to-operate and validity issues, reinforcing the firm’s reputation for commercially attuned, technically rigorous counsel.”

A resource for identifying world-class patent attorneys in private practice, the IAM Patent 1000 bases its list not just on buzz, but on interviews with clients and other practicing patent attorneys. The quantitatively-evaluated listings account for depth of knowledge, market presence, level of work, and positive peer and client feedback.
